Wow, who thought VMworld 2017 Barcelona (this year following right after the show in Las Vegas) would just be a copy of the U.S. event is completely wrong. There have been big announcements that will have a major impact on how private and public clouds will merge.

vSAN 6.6 adds a major new capability that will deliver a highly-available stretched cluster that addresses the highest resiliency requirements of data centers. The new release will be allowing for storage redundancy within a site AND across sites at the same time. Continue Reading
EHC 4.1.1 is now available on VxRail Appliances, is optimized for smaller deployments and provides an upgrade path for existing EHC customers to vRealize Automation 7.1, which brings simplified infrastructure and application provisioning, with granular, end-to-end financial tracking. Here’s a summary of the major announcements I’ve captured from VMworld 2016 Barcelona. And before I’ll go into this let’s also have a quick look at an announcement that took place right before the show (VMware Cloud on AWS) and nearly everybody was talking about.
Great news from from SAPPHIRE in Orlando: VMware vSphere 6.0 is now in General Availability with SAP HANA SPS 11 (or later releases) for production single-VM use cases. This allows you to assign up to 4 TB of RAM and up to 128 vCPUs to a VM. See SAP Note 2315348 for specific information and constraints.
