The most widely read post on this blog so far is the “Reference Architecture for Cloud-Enabled Infrastructure for SAP”. In the meantime we’ve developed this much further to a complete solution. Furthermore, these days we’ve published a new set of SAP white papers for the Enterprise Hybrid Cloud.
Solution is probably the most overused term in the entire IT industry. So let me explain what I mean. This new solution from the EMC federation delivers infrastructure-as-a-service combined with an SAP plug-in, fully automated with a self-service portal for project teams, application developers and SAP/sys admins to consume IT services. We package these elements together, many of them at the factory, so that when we get to the customer’s site, we can accelerate implementation. Packaged in a finite period of time, at a finite price. A customer should be able to stand-up an initial hybrid cloud in 28 days, that’s the outcome.
The EMC Enterprise Hybrid Cloud solution uses an optimized combination of EMC and VMware products and services. It takes advantage of the strong integration between EMC and VMware technologies to provide the foundation for enabling IaaS on new and existing infrastructures for the hybrid cloud.
The figure below shows the key components of the Federation Enterprise Hybrid Cloud solution.
