For me, there were two key takeaways from SAP’s Field Kickoff Meeting:
- SAP is in best shape and will drive Digital Transformation from the application side. All statistics I’ve seen are in sync with the predictions from the technology perspective (see my latest blog post)
- SAP is investing heavily in IoT (€2 billion over five years. Named SAP Leonardo, SAP’s IoT portfolio takes its name from a figure known for ushering in a groundbreaking era of science and discovery. Announcement see here.

Here are my key takeaways from SAP TechEd 2016 Barcelona:
During VMworld I had the pleasure to get my hands on the “SAP on VMware SDDC” lab. Always great to get some practical experience! Meanwhile the lab is publicly available and you definitely should get your hands on it as well! Interactive simulations demonstrate best practices for design and management of SAP on VMware SDDC infrastructure with Virtual Volumes, NSX, vRealize Operations, and the VMware Adapter for SAP Landscape Management.
Here’s a summary of the major announcements I’ve captured from VMworld 2016 Barcelona. And before I’ll go into this let’s also have a quick look at an announcement that took place right before the show (VMware Cloud on AWS) and nearly everybody was talking about.
